This year Translink Corporate Finance celebrates its golden anniversary since its founding by Dr Roland Schucht in 1972. At the time it was one of the first ‘small-to-mid-cap’ M&A firms to go cross-border. Dr Schucht’s global vision for the business has endured and today, Translink covers more than 35 countries spanning 6 continents. This month, 150 partners and colleagues from across the Translink Corporate Finance global group, gathered in Mallorca, Spain for a 50th anniversary celebration to remember.
Tero Nummenpää, Chairman of the Translink International Board and Partner at Translink Finland, comments on the momentous occasion, “Against the beautiful backdrop of Mallorca, we welcomed colleagues from as far as Argentina, Brazil and South Africa. Translink’s most valuable asset is our talented and professional people, and it was fantastic to see the warm spirit and close personal relationships across the group. These close connections enable us to communicate openly and help us exceed our clients’ expectations time and time again.”
While the event marking Translink’s 50th anniversary was an especially important one given the milestone celebration, Translink hosts two Directors Meetings (DMs) annually, always in a different city. The group attributes much of its partnership approach between the country offices across the globe to regular engagements such as these, where new colleagues are welcomed and relationships with longer-standing colleagues celebrated. Translink’s industry expert groups meet to discuss trends and opportunities, mandates are shared, and best practice deal execution processes and strategies are devised.
Expansion of Translink’s Academy
This year also marks the expansion of Translink’s Academy, a mentorship and learnership programme aimed at upskilling and developing junior analysts. The corporate finance industry is experiencing a dearth of talent and Translink is committed to investing in the future of the profession. Translink Academy members at the 50th anniversary DM were hosted by Professor Albert Fernandez from the top-rated IESE Business School, who presented several case studies of relevant and interesting transactions.
Despite significant financial and geopolitical headwinds, global M&A remains resilient, and opportunities abound. For Translink, a world-leading global group with everything in place to continue to get the deal done for clients, the future looks bright.
Nummenpää concludes, “Translink’s country offices aren’t just flags on a map … and we’re not a logo or an IT system. We’re a connected, global group of experts contributing to our clients’ successes since 1972 and into the future. We are truly excited about the next 50 years for Translink and continuing to top charts of M&A League Tables in numerous markets.”
