Translink Corporate Finance in Spain and France advised the shareholders of Gecol, a Spanish construction mortars manufacturer with a strong positioning in the Spanish market, on its 100% sale to Soprema Group, a French multinational group based in Strasbourg specialised in waterproofing, roofing and insulation systems. The deal was closed on March 23rd, 2022.

This acquisition will allow Soprema to complement its existing product offering by integrating a company specialised in the manufacturing and distribution of mortars for facades and building interiors. The transaction will also strengthen Soprema’s positioning in the Iberian market and incorporate a team of professionals working for a family-owned company with values similar to Soprema.

About GECOL:
Founded in 1978, Gecol’s products – mainly tile adhesive mortars, external render & finishing mortars and technical mortars, are manufactured in 13 production facilities located across mainland Spain. The products are distributed under Gecol’s own brand, through a highly fragmented client portfolio of building materials wholesalers. Gecol has a workforce of 131 full time equivalents (FTEs) and is the second largest independent manufacturer of construction mortars in Spain. In 2021, the Group generated sales of c.€39M and an EBITDA of c.€5M.
