Fortum expands its recycling portfolio by acquiring the Finnish metal recycler Fincumet. In the transaction, Fincumet Group sells its metal recycling related businesses (i.e. Fincumet Oy and Niemen Romukauppa Oy). Fincumet Container Oy has not been sold and it continues to operate as a separate entity in the future. The acquired businesses generate app. 40 million euros in net sales and employ app. 40 professionals.

Fincumet is a family-owned company established in 1992. The company collects, processes and sells metal products. It has a processing site in Ikaalinen and collection sites in Helsinki and Jyväskylä. They collect scrap metal from large and small industrial clients, demolition companies, private persons and other metal collectors. Fincumet sells processed metals to its customers in Europe and Asia.

The CEO of Fincumet, Samuli Järvensivu, is really satisfied with the result that the more than 25 year old family-owned business has found a new home with Fortum.
